The DYE color!


There are some different colors of CD-Rs which have some differences which you should know.
There are three major colors:
GOLD - GREEN - BLUE/SILVER

GOLD DYE COLOR - PTHALOCYANINE
The gold dye is the type which lives for the longest time. The manufacturers talk about 100 years so: VERY LONG! gold dye is very good to burn audio or PSX cds because some old cd drives especially those from the hi-fi sets can probably not read the other colored cds.
If anyone has problems with reading your cds -> TAKE GOLD ONES
But you'll have to check if they really are gold because there are also some cds which look gold but don't have a golden dye. The material of gold dye cds is called Pthalocyanine. Watch out for this name if your buying gold cds.
